Do It Like It Means Something was founded with the goal of inspiring and motivating folks to start or maintain an active lifestyle. Research and historical data have proven that activity is paramount to staying healthy. We want to provide opportunity and inspiration for youth and adults alike to do just that.
Having people in our lives who have experienced heart issues or dealth with the consequences of cancer, we want to improve heart health, and reduce the incidence of heart disease and cancers.
Being a new small non-profit, we are focused more toward what we can achieve locally. We do not intend to "compete" with the national-level charities - honestly, just the opposite; we want to find ways to leverage their resources.
While we recognize the importance of the major charities such as the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, we feel that there are a number of smaller, less-recognized entities who do great work supporting patients, research or education related to heart-health or cancer-related goals. Our challenge is to support these endeavors that do not consume donations in high overhead costs, so that a much higher percentage of gifts goes toward supporting patient support, research, and hopefully, cures in the near future.
Just a couple of heart-related examples:
